Francine's Texas Cuisine

 

Hot Water Cornbread   1 cup boiling water 1 cup cornmeal 1/2 tablespoon shortening Pinch of soda 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 2 tablespoons sugar   Combine all ingredients and drop by tablespoonful in hot oil. Cook until golden brown.
