Italian Cream Cake

 

2 cups sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
5 egg yolks
2 cups flour
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup coconut
5 beaten egg whites

Cream well sugar, margarine and Crisco. Then add egg yolks one at a time, flour, buttermilk, soda and coconut. Fold in egg whites. Bake in three 9” pans. Cool and frost.


Frosting


1 - 8 ounce package cream cheese
1 stick margarine
1 box powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
